For example, if you can only spend 1 hour a day coding, you might expect it to take months. As a…
Read MoreThe entire team must work with that common vision so that the whole experience is better than the sum of all parts. Let’s take a hypothetical example of a company where everyone is an I-persona. One designer proposes that the application’s navigation can be restructured for better usability. The ui design course developer says that the application’s current architecture does not support this new navigation. Would it be worth re-building the entire application for the sake of the new navigation? The developer may suggest an alternative technical solution, which the designer may not fully understand.
As a UX designer, you probably are looking to turn your designs into a product; and think you need a developer for that. There are many companies out there encouraging their UX designers to focus on the experience and the experience only. A popular path UX designers take to break into the industry is through bootcamps, not unlike coding bootcamps! That’s where the similarities end, however — UX design bootcamps almost never teach coding.
Senior UX designers who’ve honed their craft don’t need to code too. Their value lies in laying out user flows that are easy to understand so developers can walk through and code a project or component even faster. Understanding a product’s audience is the first step in the design process.
Similarly to empathy, this skill is transferable from a wide variety of careers and is a must for UX designers. A huge part of the job is communication — a UX designer must first and foremost communicate with and listen to testers and users, learning their needs and pain points. You may be surprised to find just how many non-tech skills are useful for UX design. UX designers have a wide variety of responsibilities before they can start designing anything. Coding is not going to help you communicate during a brainstorming session or ask the right questions when you’re researching your users’ needs.
After all, knowing how to code gives the UX designers more authority on the project and more capacity to further optimize the user experience. The software course knowledge means that when I’m designing new features and products I’m confident when having technical conversations with developers and also asking them to give me feedback. Objective-C is the primary language used for native software on Apple products. This includes OS X, their desktop operating system and iOS, their mobile device operating system.
